    FS: Original Luggage Redux

    ** SOLD **

I put this up for the seller a while back and had my doubts due to his asking price which was $1,500. Two things have happened since then: I've started to clean it up and he lowered his price at my urging. As it turns out, it's in beautiful condition. He claims it's never been used on a car and of course I can't verify that. But the chrome is excellent. And what makes it really interesting are the original red leather straps. I haven't treated them with my magic potion yet, but they are pretty cool.

    Here are a few pictures:

I feel like a curator with this thing. I'm going to be very cautious treating the leather as I don't want to rub off the red dye.

I know Eric offers beautiful new ones and I would buy his for function. But there's that thing about originality...

Current Asking Price: $1,200 + shipping (which probably isn't cheap)

    Thanks,
    JohnA

Thanks for the interest. This *is* a great piece with the original straps. I didn't mention it in the listing, but it also has some spidery criss-cross pieces that are from the day as well.

    John,

Would you mind sending me detailed photos of those leather straps as well as the dimensions.....length, width, thickness, hole spacing, etc. I'm thinking of ordering a rack from Eric this summer and would love to replicate the straps. I'll send you a PM with my email address.

    Thanks

    Jeff...

Someone suggested in a PM that I do exactly that and as an aspiring Porsche archeologist it seems like my duty. I'll post the results here.

John, with all your new projects have you considered reproducing the red leather luggage straps? I'm thinking of buying one of Eric's racks but would like to source some replica red leather straps.

    Hello
Can you please tell me if this is correct for a 1967 911? I realize this was already sold but I am just trying to find out what I need to look for for my 67 911 which came with a ski rack from new.
    Thank You
