911 Outside Thermometer Factory Install Details/Photos Needed

I have owned a couple of cars in the past with the outside thermometer mounted in the lower left dash. Unfortunately those cars are gone and I did not document the location that the capilary tube goes through, where the sender mounts in the front and how it looks in the front compartment and wheel well. If someone has a known factory install please post some pictures of how this should be installed, especially some shots of how the whole line should look from the dash to the front. Thanks very much.

Don here is a 66 912. I don't know if it will help..
The tube goes under the main wiring loom and exits above the bumper mounts.

Some more if it helps.I would imagine the routing is similar even though the guage is under the dash on a 911?

I tought that the sensor was installed under the font fender, near the door....

And look at that piece of metal that protect the sensor.. Original or not? I can't find pet code for it...

This is great information Harvey. I was just looking for the same thing as I've just had two 80mm and one 60mm gauges rebuilt.

Looks like it was part of the assembly when ordered. There is a 999 512 131 02 "Clamp for outside thermometer" But I don't know if it is the same because it takes 2 according to the book. That was one of those things that I would order just to see what it looked like...The 912 guage (80mm) is the only one with a 902 prefix all of the rest (60mm) have a 644 prefix meaning that they were around a while....

I have one mounted. I mounted the sensor inside on the left sode of the trunk above the battery. I did not put the sensor in the fender. Depends on what you want. I use the car for fun and driving, not a concours car..
