Backdate Question:
I have procured the RSR Strut Braces from ADVTRACING in Australia (thanks!) and a bar from Rebel Racing. I want to add the stiffness, but I also want to do it in a way that fits the period of the car which is a 1984 Turbo-look Carrera backdated to 1973 RSR.
Please look at this photo of the trunk which clearly illustrates the problem on the driver side: mounting the RSR Strut Bracket is impeded by the routing of the gas lines by the tower. We will also need to move the fuse box forward a couple of inches to make this work. Ideally there should be a swap to a period gas tank and fuel line setup, but I am not going to do that at this time – I just want to put the strut bar in.
So our plan is to replace the black hose (which is about 6 inches long) with a longer one that can be routed around the brace after it is welded in. The filler lines will also be rerouted accordingly. Is this the best way? Has anyone done this before? Has anyone had this problem and resolved it differently? Thanks!
