    Grand-Am of the Americas

Just a quick show of hands to see if anyone will be making it out to Circuit of the Americas in Austin, TX to catch the Rolex/Continental Tire Series on Saturday 3/2 (tomorrow).

The PCA should have a pretty large presence out there in turn 1. Hope to see you there!

Cool, I may be there but... Who are you? It's good to use your name.

Ha! Alan is that you? It's me, Rick. Just look for the doofus wearing the black Senna t-shirt.

Well said, Alan. I'll be channeling Senna all the way down from Dallas tomorrow.

Are they using the same course as the F1 cars? I saw that Fogerty got the pole at 2:00.1, which made me curious about the F1 times. Vettel's pole time was 1:39.3. Yikes! If the course hasn't been altered that's quite a time differential. Makes one appreciate the heyday of endurance racing in the early 70s when the prototypes were faster than the F1 cars.

A few years ago I think the lap times between the DP cars and the ALMS P1 cars was something like 13 seconds around Laguna Seca.

The Grand Am races are "entertaining" I guess, I'll leave it at that.

I'll have to settle for watching on TV - have fun!

DP cars are just a wee bit faster than the ALMS GT cars... which is why I am concerned about this "merger".
