Mike,
Do you think it's the same car you went to look at?
Your story makes me feel better! In my mind that was one that I let get away.
This car has been updated on the seller's site with (50) photos and the following description....
at $67.5K it seems over priced by +/-$15K.
1967 Porsche 911
Chassis No. 308395
Engine No. 911828
Preserved Very Late SWB - 3 Owners from New
All original floors with factory undercoating – Date-Coded Wheels
Recent Mechanical Overhaul
Previous long-term Ownership
Porsche brought the 911 into production in 1964 and it immediately sent shock waves through the motoring industry. It was one of the most nimble and sporty road cars of the day, due to its rear engine design and small, light, aerodynamic body. It had voluptuous flowing lines that were able to turn heads at every corner and probably remains one then most classically elegant sports cars of this era.
Chassis No. 308395 is a largely preserved example of the desirable early production SWB 911. Initially born Polo Red, this well-kept 911 currently wears an all-black livery and retains all of its original trim, signal lenses, side glass, wheels, upholstery, instruments, undercarriage/undercoating and more.
The paintwork was applied many years ago over a very solid body. As expected, the finish shows cosmetic issues as does portions of the original trim and lenses. All of the vented chrome wheels are date coded 2/67, including the spare – along with original crested hubcaps is quite a rare occurrence. The cabin exudes originality, with the exception of rear speakers, as does the luggage compartment. A Becker Europa II radio with matching early cassette player is fitted, factory books accompany along with seat belts and original airbox.
The motor runs great, having been rebuilt just 5k miles ago, complimented by a newer gas tank, stainless exhaust and upgraded Weber carburetors. Originally a California car, the Porsche was acquired 25 years ago by the previous and long-term owner and today, this early 911 coupe remains a great 3-owner example of a well preserved and very capable driver.
Classic 911s have grown tremendously in popularity within the past few years, especially the early SWB examples – we encourage a closer inspection of this true survivor.

And that's if it's represented accurately. These guys used to have a pretty good reputation here in Texas. Especially compared to some of the other local dealers like Victory. But I just had a shockingly bad experience with them on a 911E I was looking at (which cost me almost $1k and I never even bought a car). I'd still consider buying from them if they had a car I really wanted but I'd be extra careful if I did. Really makes you appreciate the good dealers out there like Jeff at EC and a few others.
I would also agree that this car is over priced when it has cosmetic issues with the paint job that is already in the wrong color.
