    '67S Color Code Plate

    Hey guys,
In the process of restoring my '67S Softwindow, and have to buy/stamp the plate showing the factory color code in the drivers side door jam. Any resources as to where to get the right font/style stamping done so that it looks factory correct? Thanks in advance!

    Reid,

Here's that tag that everyone sells: http://www.stoddard.com/shop/shopexd.asp?id=59224

It's not a perfect match. The font, spacing etc aren't the same. Pretty obvious when held up to an original. I think it's the only reproduction out there though.

    Carl,
Thanks, actually I have the right '65-'67 tag, but was wondering if there was a specific stamping process??

    Hi Reid,
Where did you find the correct paint tag???
For correct stamping, I would have checked with DaveP. You find him here: http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...nt-code-decals

Few 67S tags in that thread, but at least a close up of mine if that can be of some help.

    Cheers,

    Radmund,
Thanks, yours was a big help indeed. Not saying mine is original/concourse correct, but I got the correct style from Sierra Madre. Now have to stamp it. Thanks again.

Make sure that whatever you do that the plate is on something durable/hard otherwise it will cave in. You can always spot a re-stamp if care wasn't exercised. There are neat jigs that hold the numbers in a row so you can make a single strike.

Hi again Reid, not sure if this matters to you anymore, but:
I have recently noticed there seems to be a change in stamping size & font at one point during 67MY production. Will come back with more info when I have checked the pics I have on my computer to pinpoint more accurately when this change took place.

    What is your VIN number??

This is the closest one that Stoddard sells for '67. Correct for some cars but not all according to my survey.

Terry at IM has the right plate......perhaps minor dimensional differences.

He can/will stamp it for you.

If you're gonna spend the money for your own stamps...don't buy domestic, inch punches. Go to a European tool supplier and get the right thing, metric.
