The Fine Art of Moderating 2.0

    Peter,

I know the previous FAoM was your thread but I think this is what frustrates many of us. Why lock it? Why not simply let nature take its course and let it fizzle on its own?

    What am I missing?

I have not been here for very long. But so far everything that I have read has been about the passion for our old 911's. If someone is maligning another guy or his business without just cause I agree the thread should be locked. I am not a fan of deleting members posts. I think we should see it warts and all.
A couple of times I have posted and been greeted with the message that my reply has to be vetted by a moderator before posting. It never appears to have been moderated and gets lost in cyberspace. What is that all about ?. It makes me think twice about bothering to post. If I spend a while typing a reply to a thread and it dissapears into thin air I am not going to be ar5ed to type it all out again. Anyone else have this issue ir is it just a newby thing.

    graemel,

By post 100 you'll be properly vetted and off probation. At that point the only posts that will be deleted will probably be in regard to one of three areas:

    1. Religion
    2. Politics
    3. Sportomatics

If you play your cards right you can slip in a comment on a post concerning one of these topics but don't press it otherwise the papal powers will come down hard on you.

God forbid you mention someone's heritage. (Son of a gun is best)

    PS:
Frank: Your last post is 901. Cue Rod Serling Twilight Zone theme.
