WTB: Zenith 40TIN accelerator pump nozzle

Looking to buy one or two working Zenith 40 TIN accelerator pump nozzles. I'm rebuilding my carbs and I've got one that just won't clear out and work correctly. If anybody has one in their spares bin they're willing to part with please let me know. Thanks,

Got it covered. Managed to drill out the inoperative one so it works now.

    What size drill?

I have the same problem. I have 3 nozzles that are blocked and I have soaked them in carb cleaner for a week. They are still blocked. The opening in the nozzle seems very small. How did tou drill it and what size bit did you use?

    John,

I'm not sure the exact size drill size I used but it was very small obviously. Basically, I have a micro drill bit kit that is readily available at any local hobby shop. It's really used for model building but works great for all sorts of small projects. From there I chucked it in a small pin vice and just carefully opened the hole by hand working from smaller to larger until I was able to get carb cleaner to blow through it in a stream that matched the unclogged ones. After that it was good to go. Let me know if this helps or if you've got any more questions.

The standard hole is 0.3mm diameter - if you open it further to say 0.5 you will significantly affect the amount of fuel that the jet will deliver for a given pump stroke. and this will need to be adjusted reasonably accurately.

You will need a small graduated vial to measure the jet delivery quantity per stroke.

Either too little or too much fuel delivery when the pumps operate can cause a stumble.

There is also a ball valve inside the jet body that can also stick and cause a malfunction and you can hear them rattle when you shake the jet. If this is stuck you can use a small needle from the bottom of the jet and see if you can free it up.

Hot Ultrasonic cleaning normally sorts them out but I have bagful of 0.3 jets and a reasonable stock of 0.5 jets used when modifying the carbs to run on non-standard engines.
