FS: Restored Butterfly with Original Leather

    ** SOLD **

EDIT: FS: Restored Batwing (!) with Original Leather

For years I have called these butterflys and the others batwings. Looks like I was only a little off - 180 degrees or so.

Excellent original leather revitalized, wings powder coated, mounting hardware bead blasted. #1 condition.

John - I posted this comment on your Pelican thread:

This style of hornpad is usually referred to/known as a 'batwing' - it's the later '69-'73 version that people call a 'butterfly' horn pad.

You may be missing out on potential buyers with your current description.

    Poll

Andy is a definitive source of information on our cars, which makes me wonder if the nicknames "butterfly" and "batwing" are used differently in various regional Porsche circles. All us country boys here in the Central Oregon sticks refer to the item listed as a "butterfly". But it's possible (likely even) that our level of awareness is compromised by the lack of oxygen at 4,000' (not to mention breathing the smoky haze of some funny combustible so often burned here).

To us, batwings resemble the winged rats that fly out of caves at dusk in big black clouds.

So I put up the little poll. What do you call them?

It looks like the proper term for these is Batwing! In the future I'm going to list them with that term and the batwings, err butterflys, as butterflys.

Thanks for taking the time to vote.
