    California Title Search

I have a California title from 1980. Does anyone know if it is possible to trace the prior owner(s) of the vehicle?
    Thanks

I just sent a title history request to California a few weeks ago. I haven't heard anything back yet but I am hoping that they find something out. Here is a link to the form that I used, it costs $5 to have them do the title history search for you. http://apps.dmv.ca.gov/forms/inf/inf70.pdf
Good luck, I hope you find something.

I've filed I70s on several cars I own and only had one hit. I got this (with owners names blacked out by me, not by the DMV). There were no addresses, but I was able to turn up the woman who previously owned my car as she had an uncommon name. She was a dentist and I managed to get a message to her. Her assistant called me back and asked that I never attempt to contact her again!

    Good luck!Name: 308 Data blackout.jpg

Ha! I had sort of a similar experience with my 911. The car came with the first owner's name and address in the maintenance schedule booklet - also a dentist in Sacramento. I called and left a message with an assistant. Did it again a couple times. Never did hear back. Oh well. I guess they just look at us like we are crazy - or are scared of us coming after them for some crazy thought of liability for something wrong with the car all these years later.

My guy has since moved to Denver. Tried to reach him there too. No luck.
