Who makes the best Rubber trim kit for early 911's? OEM or Aftermarket?

I am the middle of a bare metal respray of my 1970 E. I will need an entire Rubber trim kit for the car once the paint is finished. I would like some advice as to OEM Porsche or Aftermarket Rubber kits. Also, who has the best price on the entire kit. Thanks in advance. Tate

When I restored my car, the body shop was not concerned about where I got the rubber. But they insisted on Porsche factory rubber around the front windshield and back window. MY .02. Chris

There is a major difference between the OEM front and rear windshield seals and the aftermarket ones. Your local Porsche dealer can get the OEM seals, and I believe that Pelican also sells the OEM part.

Am just finishing the installation of all new rubber trim on my '72. I did try some aftermarket rubber trim but it really didn't fit as well as Porsche OEM so I didn't use any aftermarket. The rear glass and front windshield were also done with OEM to get a proper fitment.

DEFINITELY get factory seals for the windows. I have installed both factory and aftermarket seals several times, and EVERY aftermarket seal fit like sh*t out of the box and shrunk tremendously within the first 3 months. At this point I will not install an aftermarket one without written consent releasing me of all liability. Look at the corners of the windshield on cars at shows. The ones that have a large shrunken area in the top and bottom corners are aftermarkets. DO NOT skimp on your windshield, rear window, sunroof, targa seals, otherwise all the time and money you put into rust repair is worthless

Thanks everyone. I will go with the OEM rubber trim parts. Who sells an entire kit at a discount? Pelican? others.... I kinda hate to go to the dealer. I am afraid of what they are going to want. Thanks

I'm not aware of an "entire kit", Pelican is good. I have had good luck price wise with Sunset Porsche 503-641-8600, who sells at 30% over cost to out of state residents.

Are you going with Tangerine on the re-spray?
