I haven't tried Star Tron, but I have been using Stabil for some time. Seems to be working well. It can be purchased at boat supply stores.

I use Startron, which I order from Amazon. It makes a difference with my IDA40s. When I didn't use, it would sputter and cough all the time, but it's very smooth with the Startron. 1oz per 6gal.

Thanks...think I might try it. Are you doing 1oz/6 gal. or 1 oz/16 gal.?

I use it in all my cars. I'm not real careful about the amount. I just use one ounce per tank.

The trick for me was remembering to use it. The regular bottles are a pain to keep in the car. Too big for some of my gloveboxes and I was always worried they might leak. Then I found the 1oz, single use shooters on Amazon:

    http://www.amazon.com/Star-Brite-Gas...words=startron

But at over $4 per tank of gas it wasn't exciting. Then I found a place that you can buy them in bulk:

    http://www.equipatron.com/accessorie...r-sta1004.html

$62 shipped for 24 bottles. So $2.58 per bottle. I just keep the box on a shelf in my garage and throw a couple in the glove box from time to time. Very convenient.

Never heard of the stuff before now. Here's the back-story FYI.

Added 2 oz to a Full tank of fuel, and drove it down to 1/4 tank. Subjective results...engine seems to run smoother along with improved throttle response. Objective results...much less carbon buildup inside the exhaust tip and no more stumbling or hesitation when blipping the throttle while stopped and in neutral.

Filled up this morning and added 2 more oz. Drove it down to 1/2 tank, and again seems to be running smoother throughout the rpm range and gears. Only slight carbon buildup on the inside surface of the exhaust tip.

I had no benchmark for mpg, so unable to determine if any improvement regarding fuel economy.

I've been using it in my older BMW motorcycle for quite some time on recommendation from the shop.

In the Porsche I've noticed that while driving it before fully warmed up performance has smoothed out and there seems to be less popping and spitting from the mechanical injection as it approaches operating temp.
