Install of a new radio but vintage style

Actually it was not too bad of a job but laying on my back up side down is no bueno for me.

My car still needs to be dialed in with a tune up and it would benefit from a full restore. Still I'm not going to complain about a solid 1969 911 E with no rust issues. But a radio upgrade seems in order.

This is what I started with, Name: IMG_20130403_163828.jpg

I took out the center speaker that was original to the car. Name: IMG_20130403_163837.jpg

The PO had installed a the late 80s radio and replaced the basket weave. I used the old basket weave as a template to cut new basket weave this was the hardest part of the job. I made mine one piece and did not cut it at the climate controls and the radio plate. I should have, but it is fine for now and it looks a lot better than what it did before.

It is amazing to think that the Germans made a smart phone holder 35 years before they were even invented, you can see my aux cable inside the Smartphone Halter.

I also got rid of the amp in the glove box which was the bomb back in the day. Name: IMG_20130403_163909.jpg

I replaced the dash speaker with a dual channel speakers that give much better sound. Overall I'm very pleased the new unit and it looks period and sounds great and now I have 4 channel sound now in my 69 E which adds to driving experience of the car.
