    Scott,
That is a very nice gear but not for a 904 mainshaft in 2nd, it would have 6 not 8 splines. I can post a photo of 904 gear for comparison if it helps.

Jon, what else could it be ? A 915 gear possibly?

It seems to be dated 5.65, too early for 915.

    Could it be a H for 3rd from a 4spd on a regular 901 shaft?

    Scott,

It's a stock "H" 2nd gear for a 4-speed 911/912 mainshaft, original to 902. It would fit in 3rd gear position on a 5-speed shaft, but is very low for a 3rd gear.

By the way, very good price on your "F" 2nd gear and mainshaft, which also applies to 70/71 911 and all 914, 914/6 transmissions.

I have three of these welded "H" second gears running on vintage racers, so far no problems and they are run pretty hard. Fairly easy job.
