Weber 40IDS Carb fuel connection pipe

Can someone clarify the correct finish for the small length of fuel pipe on Weber 40IDS carbs. When I got the car ('68 model year) they had the cloth covered pipe secured by two clips (see photo below). Is this the correct original finish and if so is this pipe still the same finish if you order fuel hose (999.180.030.50) from your local Porsche dealer? I am trying to clarify because I have also seen Webers with rubber pipe with two clips, rubber pipe with two caps and also the cloth pipe with two caps!

    Any clarification appreciated.

I think that is the original braided fuel line used by porsche in the earlier years. I have a couple of cars with that same tubing. I was able to get some sizes from the local parts dealer. I think VW carries some sizes of the same fuel line.

    Hi Tim,
I´m also interested in learning more about this topic.
Here is what I have on my spare IDS carbs from a quite early 67S.

Cloth pipe with caps looks old and original.

The other pipe is home made, but curious about what hose clamps were OEM in 67/68?

These are ABA Sweden and not Norma as I would have guessed. (It seems ABA was later bought by Norma)

Correct is a piece of Cohline 7.5mm hose with a braided cover and two cohline ferrules

Chris, those are Solex caps-- the correct ones are about 2/3 that length and don't have a hole. That is the right hose however.

    Thanks for all the input.

I think I have some of the correct caps then (see photo, 901.108.219.00 - these are still available from Porsche). Where do you get the hose from and I presume you need a special tool to make the set up?

These ferrules were supplied by Cohline for the 7.5mm ID tube and I agree look to be incorrect. Cohline don't seem to have short ferrule any more.

The Solex Ferrule is much smaller and is the one on left but the 'logo' has changed.

I will buy some of these from Porsche as i need to makle up some hoses.

I have around 50m of hose and the ferrules are just a push fit, there isn't any crimping involved.

I bought a full roll in the UK. I can post some over if you have a problem with sourcing.
