    Elephant vinyl 200mm ^2 (68) pattern

Figured out the elephant hide vinyl pattern is 200mm x 200mm, so I can replicate it in a mold/ and in a laser cut pattern on cad

    this is the lower portion
strange thing is the upper hide is a finer pattern

Ahhhh the sixties... I envision myself one early Saturday morning wearing plaid shorts, black shoes with white socks smoking a cigarette heading to the hardware store to buy a bag of nails.
SWB cars are an acquired taste however once acquired theirs no turning back.

Vinyls are patterened by calendering with rollers... maybe the variation (finer grained area) is a result of heat or tension during that process?

I thought elephant hide was being reproduced in Germany, but only in gray.

On mine there are three grades - an almost invisible grain on the backing, a finer and shallower grain on the upper, and a very realistic rough grain on the bottom.
I am tempted to simply take a mold from it or digitize it for laser cutting a mold or stamp.

I have done some research and have not found anyone supplying this. I am interested. There is a supplier of real "dead" Elephant skins though.

Hoping to find a vinyl manufacturer after I complete the three CAD drawings for the 200mm x 200mm sample.
Plan be is to draw up the entire panel for a mold or a laser router.
Elephant exists in the music world, and Tolex is available:

You can get close, and in colors as well:

    Ebony tuscany:
Tuscany - Infiniss Vinyl - $978 for 40/yd. roll. $26.95/yd. or ($32.95/yd for cut yardage)

I would never use it (because of poaching encouragement), but here is real hide just to show how well they pulled off the vinyl pattern in 1968:
