Proper Plating for Parts? Yellow Zinc?

I've done several searches on this site, but have not found what I wanted...

Has anyone developed a list of plated parts for a 911, and the proper plating for each? (I need to begin sorting parts for the plater.) If someone has a complete parts list with each plated part identified, that would be great.

Alternatively, has anyone developed a list of the parts on a late '67 911 that require yellow zinc? I'm having my brake calipers rebuilt and they will be plated yellow zinc, so I'm hoping to give him a whole basket of parts to plate with yellow zinc.

    Thank you all, once again.

This is a tough one-- depends on the year. Things that were silver in 66 were yellow in 67. And there are things that were phosphate, or Bostik-Endurion as well. Do you have the original parts book? Look for the abbreviation "verz." for "verzinkt" or "galvanized"- this is a good place to start for your year.

Tis is probably an obvious question, but does the verz mean yellow zinc galvanized?

"verz" simply referred to zinc plating.....same designation in 356 books.
The Porsche engineers simply specified zinc, or oxide, or phosphate for their spec/usage.
It was the fasteners industry and the various suppliers, Kamax, Karro, Verbus, etc that when spec'd zinc would supply their current zinc.
The problem with originality is that the fastener industry went from true cadmium in the 40s and early 50s to clear or silver zinc in the late 50s and 60s to yellow zinc in the late 60s.
So you have cars in model year transition like '65-'66 when both yellow and silver would show up on a car!
Most people who have messed with these cars have found '64 Cs with a few yellow parts, '65 cars more, the '66 900 cars were mostly yellow with left over silver stuff. Even some silver showed up on '67 cars....my '67S has some silver pieces.....my '69 cars on all yellow with a few exceptions.
There is no specific catalog aside from looking at original cars....and there will be variation there.
