Thread: Radio Frankfurt US mount on a 71?

Radio Frankfurt US mount on a 71?

Ok, so I want to install my radio and will like a flush mount like (picture No.2) but looking at my radio (picture 1) I can only instal the radio plate on top of the basket wave trim (which I don't really like)
The question is. Was another type of radio plate used for the flush mount look or when the Frankfurt US radio was install the radio plate went on front? What it's correct?
    Any advice will be appreciated.

See the photos in this posting by Dave. http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...ight=Blaupunkt

You need the two clips that secure the radio to the dash at the front and a U bracket that supports the rear. The basket weave is glued to a thin steel plate that fits in the aluminum channel on the dash.

You basically need the installation kit which consists of the parts shown in this old thread.

You may also need the rear bracket:

AND the two clips circled (R&L) in this thread:

I believe the Becker Mexico was an option (the radio police will let us know) and it has a flat plate mount, though is not entirely flush.

Great Info! The problem now looks like I need the side clips, rear bracket and a different front bezel.
Doesn't look easy but I will start the search.
Here a picture of what I have so far.

the bezel on eBay is not right for your 71. The correct bezel sits over the opening instead of through it. Look for the dull silver finish on the center bar. the correct Becker will have a small "universal" face like your Blaupunkt rather than the large Mercedes type.

When did this start? 1971? My 1970 has the other bezel.

Ahh, 66S is right. The bezel I posted doesn't sit on top of the opening. I missed that detail.
As for the one posted, I always thought that the satin bar in the middle was later than '71. Of course I could be wrong, but I've seen these listed as '72-'73 only items.

Well this is not becoming any easier. I am glad I wait it on that bezel.
Thanks for that feed back! the Question now is. Anyone has one for sale?

By the way... looking for the side clips with a old friends radio he hade the radio mounted over a plastic radio plate That its engrave with basket wave look a like pattern. He thinks its from a 70-71 set up but I have never seen that set up, it looks very OEM so that got me a little more confused.
Is it correct? Here a Picture.
