    S Caliper markings

    I am rebuilding the calipers and am curious about some of the markings and what is their meaning. I know the experts here can provide some answers...

    First picture is overall picture of S caliper:

    So what is this number on the edge? Both L/R calipers have the same number? Is this an ATE part # or ??? And what is the little symbol?

    Then there are these numbers which appear to be stamped in and the X. What are these for?

    That marking is a fox head, as in Fuchs.

    Those are the latest style of S-caliper. '72 on if I am not mistaken.

    The X is to do with piston clearance which was modified - I believe increased - on the later calipers.
