    Broken Hood release handle help

Went to open the front hood on the car and the release handle came apart in my hand. Fortunately, the hood popped open prior to the handle coming apart.

Searching for an easy way to fish the cable out of the housing inside the passenger compartment. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I'd hate to flatbed the car to Bedford, TX just to get this resolved.

    Thanks in advance! jon

If the threaded end in the passenger compartment broke off, you need a new cable and it can usually be pushed through the wire tube which leads to the front trunk from the passenger comparftment. If it just came off the thread (unscrewed), you can unhook the wire end on the trunk latch side and just push it back until the threads can be caught with the handle. There is a small hole in the latch itself in which you can put a pin or nail that allows you to preset the latch to open and get some slack in that wire cable. Good luck!

Thanks for your response. Time and job restrictions have prevented me from dealing with this for a few weeks. Pulled the car out of the garage today, removed the the three 10mm bolts from the front hood release mechanism and was able to slide the whole assembly to the right to get the cable to move outwards in the passenger compartment. Fortunately the threaded portion of the cable was still intact and I was able to screw the original handle back on while a wait for a replacement "T" handle to arrive. Back in business.... Thanks!
