Thread: Correct paint plate punch...

    ^^^^^ I was wondering what surface would be best when stamping these aluminum plates. Anyone ever seen a photo of this activity at the factory?

    If you remove a vin plate from the front of a 356. You can see faint # dents in the steel body panel that was under the plate. Indicating that some of those cars were stamped in place.
    And if I remember right. Those numbers were like crooked teeth.

    Stamping them on the car makes sense. Less chance of getting the wrong plate on the wrong car.

    my "3" stamp looks good and has a flat top. Most cars I had "1" was stamped deeper. My "9" stamp looks to new or narrow. It should be "bold" or more used
