Is anyone actually going to answer the origional question? Which was " How do you attach the tag "?
Mike
Very sorry, followed the tangent. The fasteners are called 'screws' or 'drive screws.' They are not rivets. There is a close approximation sold by several retailers like TRE and Sierra Madre. The difference is that the originals had curved ridges on the fastener shaft. The replacements I've seen are smooth. So you'd need to cement them in place. That's what I plan to do on my color-changed car...

That is exactly what I did with my '71 Targa years ago. It didn't have a paint tag so I bought one, had it stamped (no one that I know of has the exact correct font) and used the drive screws from International Merchantile and glued them in instead of driving them in.

Well, my question actually it's on the type of numbers and letters used to stamp the plate I think they are 3mm but all the sets that I have seen are not the same type of numbers. But the extra info it's very welcome since it will also be need it to put the plate back correctly.
I don't understand why all the suppliers of these plate don't take a stroll through McMaster Carr, the original "nail screws" are available. I just bought a bag. http://www.mcmaster.com/#nail-screws/=msxv36
Until a month ago everyone told me I had to glue them in. I think I bought the "00" 3/16" and the "0" 3/16. I think the smaller "00" was the wrong diameter.

The drive rivets are also available from Stoddards also in the 356 section.
No glue required.

So no one makes the correct punches so I can stamp my new color code plate?
I have seen some Terrible re stamp plates that look far from original and will not like this to happend to me.
Any advice will be appreciated.
Reviving ancient thread because as far as I know, nobody offers a decent stamping service. I need the alu VIN plate stamped on a customer car where the original was lost in a color change decades ago.
