    Decode a serial number?

Can someone here decode this serial number for me? Is it a valid number? Chassis number? Any numbers missing?
    9122101940

    Thanks in advance.

    It's a 912 from 72, not a 911. I only have 911 codes where the 1 would be a T and the 0 a coupe. Last four are the sequence number. I don't think 912's has T's.

Since there were no '72 912's, maybe check to make sure the VIN was written down correctly.

Norm & John are correct, it is not a valid # as such. Length is correct for a 1970 up VIN, but the only 912 was in the 912600xxxx series.
    9112101940 would be correct for a 1972 911T coupe.

type 911/51 from serial 6120001 for manual trans, probably near 6123000
also possible is type 911/61 from serial 6129001 for Sportomatic
You could call PCNA COA dept and ask for the original engine # for the VIN.
What is the original paint code stamped on the badge?

Dave, I don't have the car yet; perhaps in a week or two; still out in Denver. I believe the original color was ivory, but it's now light yellow. The COA will be included with the paperwork. To be Continued

Have them send a picture of the CoA and you'll have all the numbers.
