    FS: NOS 4 1/2 x 15 Fuchs - Storage Unit Find

Another time capsule comes to the light of day. This time it's a 4 1/2J x 15 Fuchs.

It's fun to see one in it's original unmounted form. Never mounted on a wheel stud. Never even had an air valve put in.

These were not dipped like the later Fuchs "Polished Paddle" wheels. The black section looks to be loosely masked and sprayed. I took picture of every paddle for posterity sake and to show how the original wheels came from the factory. Have a look and keep some of these things in mind as you over restore your car!

I don't think the center cap is period but, I could be wrong. It has a little more wear than the wheel but, that could just be because of it's proximity to danger.

The first few pictures are as it was found sitting in the middle of a stack of Fuchs. I then cleaned the dust off to get a good, overall picture of the wheels condition.

Asking $1,200.00 plus shipping. They're only new once.

    As it was found:

    Ink stampings in the back:

    Part numbers:

    Crappy picture of the side:

    Cleaned up a tad:

    Here's what I can see:

    Pristine mounting area:

Upside down +4 and what looks to be 7 and 70:

6 and 10 at the end of the ink stamped part number:

    Eric,

First a customer "tip" directs you to NOS calipers, now a storage unit yields an NOS 4.5 and 46IDA's(?)

Come on, where's the main vein of this mother lode?

    Frank, it's all related.

Customer tip is correct. The calipers turned out to be local... literally 1/2 mile away from my shop. The seller delivered and told me they had a storage unit packed with stuff from her fathers estate. He passed some 8 years ago and was a Porsche mechanic and racer in SoCal.

They didn't really know how to price things (checking eBay for valuation) and I offered to help them out. I hate to see people get ripped off and I like to see things end up where they need to be. So far so good. The calipers and the wheel both found very nice homes. The competition 46's belong on a really nice vehicle.

We have a Drivers 904 door that is next. I need to determine a bit of lineage and date the door (skirt, no skirt etc.) before we offer that. There's a lot of 356 and early 911 stuff. This wheel is a prime example. I could have purchased it for $50.00 I'm sure but, that would involve lying. I'm sure some people will read this and think I'm stupid but... I just think that would be bad "Carma".

Hopefully we'll pull out some more cool stuff that will make the seller and the buyer here and elsewhere happy.
