    901/82 gearbox

Can anyone give me some info on a 901/82 gearbox found in a 69S?
Was told it was called airport gearing and there were only a few made that year.

    Appreciate any insights.

    Hallo

Yes, i confirm you that 901/82 ( effective from november 68, optional on type 911S) has special ratio for Airport races:

    1st: AA 12:34
    2nd: F 18:34
    3rd: J 21:31
    4th: O 23:28
    5th: S 25:26

very close gear ratio. A rare and race oriented gearbox.

    the maximum speed at 7500 rmp is 195 km/h ( R&P: 7:31)

    Ciao

I expect that would have a magnesium case, correct?

I have no infos about it.
i suppose that it should be a 901/aluminium gearbox (push clutch) , not a 2,2 911/mag gearbox (pull clutch)

but perhaps rmfent can say more....

If you have the box or access to it, then it really needs to be fully documented. I believe it is Mg case with serial in range 7392101 to 7392118. We need to have confirmation of case material, and the casting part #'s on the main parts of the case. It could have an F mainshaft or a 904 mainshaft with an F gear set; that would be interesting to know. LSD? Since it is so old, are the contents original or changed?

    901/82

Serial# is 7392103. Been told it is mag. Waiting on COA. Not sure about LSD as yet.
Have not inspected inside as yet but will. Appears to be original to car as car was 1 owner.

I ID'd the original fitting of an LSD on my car by looking for '|10' appended to the trans #, located on the bottom of the box
