Thread: Rear wiper delete -- plug??

    Rear wiper delete -- plug??

I'm thinking of removing the rear wiper assembly.

Was there a "plug" in the hole if the cars came without a wiper originally???

    Are the grills different?

My impression is the engine lids and everything else was identical on cars with and without wiper and that it was essentially an "add on".........is this correct?

    This is for a 70 911T

    Uhhhh --- NO . . . and YES

NO --- in that, all engine lids prolly started out the same . . . but, once a wiper got fitted --- there's no turning back

    1) Original Porsche (alu) lid, fitted w/ factory wiper. If you look closely at the upper left grill tab, you'll see a bushing that takes the pinion for the wiper arm

    2) Underside of above, showing the rear wiper install

    3) Original Porsche (alu) lid. If you look at the same upper-left tab, as 1), you'll see no hole or bushing for a wiper

There may be a 'plug' of some kind used --- whenever someone de-commissioned the wiper . . . but it would've been done after-the-fact, not standard, so . . .

    YES --- the wiper install is an 'add-on' . . . option code 425 for your 1970 . . .

    . . . mine, too! --- see post #434
