    FS: Leistritz Muffler dated 11/73

    For sale is a very nice Leistritz muffler dated 11/73. It is very clean and shows no signs of abuse. A friend of mine gave it to me for helping him sell his 912 Porsche last year. I would consider it in good condition although I am not an expert. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or advice.
    I will post a pic tomorrow.
    If I'm out of line at $600 pending pic, please let me know, I don't mean to offend.
    Buyer will be responsible for shipping charges.
    Best,
    John

    Is this for a MY1974 or for an earlier car? (The tailpipes are different.)

    Yes to both questions.... The 'early muffler was used on the '74-'75 cars... And YES, the only difference is that they did change the exit pipe.

    The muffler on my '73 is a '74/'75 that I changed the exit pipe to an earlier one on. The later muffler will work on an Early car, although the exit pipe looks funny bent low... but an Early muffler won't work on a later car because the exit pipe will run into the rear valance, without changing it to the newer bent exit.

    Hope this makes sense...

    early 70`s mufflers

    I have two mufflers: one is a nos dated 11/91 for a T E S...The other is a 1970 ? muffler extracted from a 70 S (all used parts are always from an S car)..To me the tailpipe has the same bend, though the nos one has a smooth pipe contour and the `used one has a wrinkle in it. Both are Leistritz and the early one weighs 5 lbs. less than the nos?
    Also, the nos one has a peculiar dent on the end in the photo with the stacked mufflers (bottom /last photo). Any observations/comments.....Cliff {
    Don't know why the bold type showed up} (not for sale)
