Does anyone in DFW have a P290 hinge pin tool they'ed rent for a couple days?

I want to remove Annie's doors to strip and prime. Anybody have one of these laying around you would consider renting?

    Thanks,
    Mark

Rick Cabell has one, perhaps he can send it to you?

The tool is not strictly necessary and given that you will be stripping the paint, the usual concern (having your drift slip off the pin and hit the paint) is less of a concern. But it's pretty easy to cover the A-pillar with some blue painters tape, then take a hammer and drift and slowly drive the pins out.

This is definitely a two person job-- when we did this (to install a radio antenna) a few weeks back, we actually put a floor jack under the door with a towel to cushion it and VERY gently raised it into place to support the door. The second person is there to keep the top of the door from twisting forward into the edge of the fender, which can dent it. When it starts to move, the second person should actually put their fingers between the door and the edge of the fender-- this is certainly a pinch hazard, but fingers heal, whereas the door will require body work!

With the factory tool it is a lot faster but doing it manually takes about 10 minutes per door.

If this is for Annie, make sure and have a brace to insert in place of the door if your car is on stands as otherwise the targa opening will distort. Usually a bar is made up which goes from the door hinge to the lock plate.
