    1967 911S connecting rod i.d. needed

Carefully weiged all rods with bolts/nuts, and 1 turns up 39g heavy. The other 5 are within 2 g. of each other.
The one heavy rod has casting#: 901.103.101.0R followed by a small "s" inside a larger "U" shape. The cap is 901.103.111.0R. The cap and rod stamps match.
Is this even a correct '67S rod?? Thanks

Brian, I think the reason for the weight discrepancy is that the one rod is from a different set. The "S" rods were nitrated and look like this:

whereas the normal rods (mine) look like this with the mark you mention:

There is no difference (other than the nitrating) between the rods, it's just that you got one from a different set and therefore weight group. See if you can get an "S" rod to match and then send the whole set to be rebuilt and matched to within a tenth of a gram.

Thanks for the info. I just got them back from Ollie's and was just checking on the scale...I think they may have forgot to balance the set, I'll call tomorrow. Brian

i have spare 67S rods, balance them end for end meaning each end is weighed in a horizontal position. the big end is rotating mass like the crank, the little end is reciprocating mass like the pistons.

Wow. Old thread, but good replies, thanks. (304065-smart boy!)
Turns out the machine shop had mixed in 1 rod from another engine. Oops, things happen. They sent my wayward rod back to complete my matched set. They are installed awaiting motor completion. Again, thanks.
