Control Arm Difference 1971 vs 1978

I am keen to upgrade my ball joints, struts, bushings, tie rods, etc on my 71E and have found a pair of 78 SC control arms to buy.

71 Left Control arm is 91134190100, 78 SC Control arm is 91134190101

Does anyone know if I can use the 78 SC control arm in my 911 71E?

My 911 is a daily driver so I would rather do all the work on a spare set of control arms and then fit them quickly on a weekend.

    Cheers,
    Paul

Likely it's the sway bar mount; lowboy on a '78, through -the -body on a '71.

Your '71 has pinch bolt ball joint attachment to the struts and the '78 was made for wedge bolt ball joints. I don't know if the two types of ball joints fit the control arms interchangeably.

    And the sway bar mount.

The 2 arms are interchangeable. One just needs to install the proper ball joint to mate with the strut. The main differences (the sway bar link brackets) have already been stated.

Thanks guys. I would I assume I can simply remove and install the correct sway bar mount with a bit of grinding and welding. The used control arms look like they could do with a bit of a clean up and respray anyway.

    Again, appreciate your responses.

Jim, if I'm not mistaken, those loops can be cut off and replaced with tabs:

    Is this the only difference?
