Several decades ago I won a national championship with an MG Midget. It might be the only car I would ever want back. I used to take to to my local PCA autocross events every once in a while. On a tight course I would blow off the 930 turbos. Those guys with the gold chains never quite got over that.

I had a 63 Midget that we AutoXed at Jack Murphy Stadium in San Diego in the early 80s. It had curtains, not roll-up windows so it was lightweight and weird quarter-elliptic rear springs which sort of located the rear end. We used a later1275 with a big weber and a ribcage box. We had no clue know how cams, header and compression ratio worked together. We had no money for the good steel or forged innards, so cranks, rods, pistons and rear ends never lasted long. Working on it ALL THE TIME taught us how to take things apart and put them back together again.

    Dang it sure was fun.
