    Händler Nr = Dealer Codes

I've been digging around in some of the old posts --- both here, on The Registry, and occasionally Pelican . . . and finding/coming across some interesting stuff

One of the topics that I've been interested in are what gets referred to (on Kardexs, usually) as Händler Nrs --- dealer numbers

Don't know much about them, but --- in my case . . . the dealer code made a pretty spectacular difference when it came to understanding the history of my car

    Anyway, I haven't seen any listings of Porsche's 'dealer codes,' so . . .

Händler Nr. 100 = 'factory use'
HughH had some comments to make on this code --- see post #441 . . .
    http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...ty-nine/page45

Short Version: my car was a dealer nr = 100 . . . and turned-out to be a car built for/used by the Versuch (Experimental/development) department. Dunno what it was used for --- still digging . . . but it ended-up being sold to Jo Siffert (!!!)

Händler Nr. 905 = 'werks employee'
Just came across this + the reason for this thread --- see the 1st post of this thread . . .
    http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsc...finishing.html

If you know/have any details about 'dealer codes,' --- please post them here, along w/ any links/references/etc

Mine was shown on the Kardex . . . but that's an excellent question

What documents/places show the 'Händler Nr'

    1) Kardex
    2) Maintenance handbook

    Any others?

It seems that all the numbers are in the 10/71 Porsche Service book. The complete number for D'Iteren Freres for example is 202/000/00 for the Belgian Importer and the number for D'Iteren service and dealership is 202/401/8 with three stars. There is a one two three star rating showing the depth of sales and service at each outlet. My 73S came from Delcar SAS in Varese, Italy. The importer is Autogerma in Bologna, 214/000/0. Delcar SAS in Varese is 214/211/1 with three stars. So the 214 is the country code and the rest the dealer. Some of the codes posted above are country code only in Dave P's post and this is correct if they are all importers. All of the dealers in each country have the same prefix with an individual dealer number. My book is ROW only I have USA info but in another booklet. Some countries like Germany have several prefixes maybe for different regions.

I just checked the US booklet. Only the name, address and phone#. No other info. But It has to be somewhere. It looks like Germany is the only country with multiple prefixes.

    Formats

    Hmm . . .

    Steve's comments are interesting

    There's another thread --- about dealer license frames . . .
    http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...r-Plate-Frames.

I've been going through the old late-'60s-to-early-'70s Porsche Dealer Listings to identify dealers from their frames. The '69 listing is a world-wide one . . . and includes information in the same format that Steve describes . . .

    nnn/nnn/n

    . . . but I don't have any information after '69

When I get back, I'll see if I can't pull up some more of this information + put it up here

    My question would be . . .

    Why the different formats?
    1)..The Kardexs that I've seen all show a 3 or 4-digit identifier
    2)..Hugh's listing --- for RS's, right? . . . shows 2-letters --- and all are 'US' dealers
3)..And the '69 PDL that I have --- and the Service Book that Steve is referring to . . . shows another format, entirely

In other words --- are all these different formats of 'Händler Nrs' identifying the same thing?

I have the Italian Service book for my car. The number 214/211/1 fits perfectly in the spaces provided for dealer number. If that means anything.
