    What a great looking S. I guess the original owner or the dealer did not want the big tank and space saver. It would have come with the air bottle. The larger tank was sonderwunsch in '72, standard for row '73 S.

    I know it quite well, the last two italian owners are close friends of mine. Really a nice car, restored with meticolous attention to detail. Both my friends are enthusiasts and usually don't cut corners in restoring and mantaining their cars.

    That is one gorgeous car!
    It appears the transmission stick shift boot is from an earlier 901 transmission.

    Clyde's correct. The 72 shift boot is the only difference between the 72 and 73 shifter. In 1973, the factory introduced the shift tower on all 915 transmission cars. Because it's a one year only, the 72 915 shifter is a pretty rare thing.
