Question on Paint

Can anyone shed some light on how the early 911 SWB were painted? Did they use a clear coat at the end to seal it off? I have sticker on it and when I tried to remove it with a blow driver some of the clear coat came off, but not the paint itself. I was always of the impression that the car was original paint on that part of the car but am being also told no clear coats were applied back in the days. So statements dont match

clear coat was used back then but sparingly. Typically ONLY mettalics would been cleared. Either way, factory decals were applied after paint, so if there is one with clear over it, the car has definitely been repainted

I didn't think they used clear at all back then. I'm not a certified Porsche historian, but I'd say that if your car has clear on it, it's been repainted.
