    Performance tire question

So, what are the options for a performance tire in the 195/60-15 and 205/60-15 sizes?

I was at Belle Tire (a large midwest chain) today getting some tires mounted for my rally car and while I was waiting had them look up 205/60-15 for my 911. They came up with one V-rated tire - Goodyear Eagle GT. That's the only choice from Tire Rack and Discount Tire as well. And it's only a 'high performance all-season' with a 440 UTQG The pickings are getting very slim.

Edit: found one! The Accelera Alpha Ultra-hi perf category, the specs look good, the tread looks like a Toyo RA and it's only $50. But "Accelera" tires? I'll pass

What kind of performance are you looking for? Do you need a V rated tire?

Well like most things in life I'm looking for a good compromise. A tire that will work well on the street but still offer above average performance as an autocross tire. I miss my old 008Rs.

How about the Yokohama ADVAN A048? Definitely available in 205/60-15.... The 195 may be harder.

Are you staggering the size, or are you just looking at closely sized tires? There is a less than 2% difference in size between the two. (24.21" diameter vs. 24.69")

If you don't mind a different profile, and you had a set of 16" wheels, you could look at the Toyo Proxes R1R......

No, I'm not going to stagger the sizes. I had 195/60s years ago in another '71.

Ted, if you're going to be at Parade you'll see my 67 with 195 X 65 Goodyear Eagle GT's. I have them on both my 67 and 72. They're good on the highway ( V rated) and I have autocrossed on them. I know they're not a Hoosier A-6 ( I'll be running those at Parade, they're being brought up in a friends trailer) but they were certainly passable. If there is a chance to meet you can drive it down the road if you want.

I have Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position in 195/65 15, but they do come in 195/60 15. this is listed as an ultra high performance all season tire by tire rack. it is ranked as the 3rd best tire in this category, and out of the top 3, they are the only one with a size that will work on early 9s.

i love them, others i know in the porsche community have them on and love them. really great all around tire, excellent performance, good comfort noise and wear. I am on my second set.
