    901 Active Transmission

    Fresh 901 active transmission. This gearbox has been modified to accommodate a tall first gear (E) perfect for vintage racing. Current set up is with E, J, O, S & V gears, Factory 904 Mainshaft and Quaife Torque sensing LSD. Fresh Syncro’s & Brngs. with Approx. 4 hrs. running time. Will offer to custom tailor gears sets to your spec’s. As long as we have the gears you want on an exchange basis. Custom straight shift rod with precision shift coupling included.

    Wow, that sounds interesting. A lot of custom parts? I just haven`t come across a 7/33 pinion and ring before, nor a J second gear. Wish I could swing it.

    Active: Gets moved around the shop a lot.

    I think he means that all five gears are useable on the track.
    Never heard one called that either. Don't feel bad.

    I always thought active meant straight cut gears w/o dog rings and no synchro's- crash box, dog box etc.

    Sorry, been away for a few days. First a correction, it has a 7:31 R&P not a 7:33. The term active in this case refers to using all five gears on the track. While I did assemble the gearbox, but I did not come up with the idea or give it the name.
