Engine Cooling Fan & Houseing cleaning Technic?

I have a 11 blade fan, the casting on it as we all know it its not very good, I have tried to soda basted the fan and the housing to get a good finish but Ian not 100% convince. I am looking for a OEM look and don't want to pait them. its there a quimical product or something that will be recommended for this magnesium cleaning?

    Thanks,

As I recall, the pelican thread is pretty good. Most people looking for an original mag finish will agree that applying Gibbs penetrating oil will maintain a good look and allow the mag to eventually mellow to the aged grey color.
I had my fan and housing glass beaded followed by a coating of Gibbs.
Here's what it looked like after it was done. It's still about the same color and has been over a year since completed.

I bead blast the fan with the hub masked and then spray with metal etch to bring out the oxidized mag finish. Final spray with Gibbs or CorrosionX.

This process works nicely on all mag parts to restore the original finish.

Be careful, the early fans are magnesium so I would be careful with the media that you select.

I always use 80 grit glass bead at about 80 PSI and POR-15 Metal Ready.
