    Paint preparation Rear Center Panel?

I am starting paint preparation on my 911 and looking at my new rear center panel the welding points are very noticeable. Where they like this when new or should I make it clean and smooth? I hope I did explain my self. Thank You.

No, the stiffeners were glued on the original. No spot welds. Make them smooth.

Stoddart sells this part as a Porshe original. I wonder why they are spot welded and not glued like you mention?

Just re-did mine, getting ready for Parade. Original pan showed the spots, so I left them alone...

The one I bought last year from Restoration Design doesn't have any stiffeners! Perhaps it is made from a thicker gauge steel?

Consider the heat from the muffler and methods to mitigate its affects. Depending on state of tune, high exhaust temps can bubble even the best paint.
