Magnesium Engine Case Repairs Possible ?

I know of a very rare Mag Case engine that has been apart for many years. It's owner says it has a hole in one of the case halfs (not sure of the cause)
Is there anyone or company capable of a repairing this - or is it simply a big paper weight now?
    Any thoughts or information welcomed.

    Thanks,

    Sam,

I'm in a similar boat with a cracked magnesium block that needs repair and a few others on this site suggested Ollie's machine shop in AZ. Apparently they can weld up mag cases with some special gear specifically for the job. You may want to send over some pictures just to confirm before shipping it off obviuosly.

I'm in the Virginia Beach area as well. Is your RSR the same blue one that Rusty's Shop helped with?

Also check with Jay @ Jay's Precision Machine. (408) 980-0743

Ollie's or Jay can probably handle it. The cases I have heard from Jay, usually weld up ok. Do you have the piece that was punched out? You will probably want to find a piece of magnesium that can be welded in ,if not. either cut from another junk case or a piece of plate or machined part.

If it's the non-numbered side (and if the case isn't super duper special in terms of castings) then I'd say snag a similarly coded casting and mate them. If it's valuable enough to pay for the machine work after it's repaired then have Ollie's lap, align bore, sprinkle with magic dust and TA-DA!!
