    Question for the seat police

I have a scheel seat. I believe it is a 400. Please let me know if I am correct, and how to find out what year the seat was manufactured. Any other tidbits of info you might know would be great. Thanks in advance. -brad

    Yup it's a late 40x seat.
Does it still have a typeplate, if yes, does it have a 4 or a 5 digit zipcode?
    I guess mid 90's
    Cheers

    Thanks Uli-
Sorry to be a pain, but where would I find the typeplate (newbie)? And, what do you mean by 40x rather than 400? Thanks again! -brad

    Hi Brad,
in the early Scheel days it was simple 400 was standard and 401 had a foldable Back (Same as 200 and 201 whereas a type 100 was a fixed back and a 101 was 15 degrees adjustable).
Later (that means when there were the Brands ASS, Scheel (post Karlsfeld), Scheelmann,König) there came more Models like 400s which was a variation with the shoulders pronounced, that later was just called 400 again when all 40x had the pronounced shoulder area. ASS had Models designated 203 or 203s with more side boulsters. Later 30x were 301 with 15° adjustable Back, 302 as the Race Bucket and 303 wtih a more modern shape. ASS also had the difference between 500/500s and 501/501s (s for shoulder)
So a designation 40x means all derivates of the 400 series. As mentioned above an earlier 400s can be the same like a later 400 (without s).
If there still would be the tag (later models didn't have them) it would be riveted to the back of the lower seat part.
    Cheers

    Uli

Given that the seat is newer than I thought, what is a fair price to ask for it? Thanks again for your input. It is just the one seat. -brad
