Striker vin decal crooked 7 or strait

Just received my new repo striker vin decal looks great but a fellow Canadian said that maybe the manufacturers date 7 been the crooked one.
My question is does anyone have a known for sure that it's factory correct with a strait 7 only on the manufacturers date before I order a new one. I just can not remember it was back in the early 80's with a repaint that my sticker was taken off with no success of salvaging.
    Thanks
    Hopper

I can't answer your question Hopper but I have seen pictures on this site of VIN decals where the 7 in the manufacturer date was different than the 7 in the VIN. One was crooked and one was straight, so it may have to do with where the 7 occurs on your VIN decal. Hopefully others can help. I have a 7 in my VIN and it is straight (1970 911). It was produced in 69 so no 7 in the manufacturer date.

about 11/72 it reverts back again
notice the progression in the decals, and the change from KG to AG that occurs in 05/73
that is four different decals in that period

That is an awesome collection of photos Dave! I can confirm that my 10/72 decal has the missing punches in the "7" like the one you show above.
    Very cool.

Sorry if you have already answered this, but do you also do the missing punch version of the seven? Most of the 1972 versions I have seen were of this type or the type that is normal (no missing or misplaced punches).

Bavaria911, do you still have the red 1970 911T I saw up at German Auto Service in Jessup, MD years ago? Cool car.

    Varieties of the 7

BTW, I have no affiliation with the people that make or punch the decals, but I have a good database of images, and now am organizing the data.
How many 7's? Well at least 4 types so far not including the "hanging chad" version.
