    Yes, it's a Mercedes type.
Porsche have the support in metal, not black.
If you need one, send a pm.

Somewhere there is a thread going into the minor detail differences between the two mirrors. If you use a silver spray paint on the black stem your result will be extremely close to the factory '68 mirror.

Yes, it looks like a MBZ mirror. It will fit in a 68. Most of the MBZ mirrors that I have seen have had a chrome plated stalk, not black and not painted silver like the Porsche stalk. Everything else is the same

Yes it will Cliff. The clamp is identical. The stem has a very slight difference in the shape but, to the quick glance looks identical. The casting is not as clean due to the fact that the Merc mirror has a rubberized coating over the casting. The mirror size is comparable but, the pebbling grain in the plastic is different from the 68 Porsche.

Same OEM Manufacturer for Porsche, Merc and some BMWs of this era.

What about the mirror relation to sun visors when down?

Only hick up I see is if the width of the Merc mirror is significantly wider. I have some of the stems but, I don't think I have the mirrors themselves.

I do know that the majority of the BMW mirrors of this type and era are wider but, the stems are longer so, might clear the visors.
