    Dave,

Don Ahearn (www.porsport.com) has one on his website, I tried to buy it from him (plus a bunch of other parts) but no reply at all. May be you have more luck!

    Best, Cees

Thanks Cees, I checked out both pages of parts and don't see it so guessing he sold it. Dave

Post a pic of what it looks like...I need to confirm the mirror I have is correct for my 71 targa resto, and I may have an extra. Close up of the attach point would help.

    pre 74 mirror

    Hi,

    This one:
No letter, number markings on the back, different structure on the plastic and in fact the mirror is a little smaller than the later mirror although the same mounting foot.

    Speedo,

That looks like the one I need. Probably 8- 9" long? Let me know if this what your extra one looks like and if you want to sell it.

    Thanks, Dave

The mounting foot on the mirror pictured has been modified. the outer lip has been ground off so it could be superglued to the windshield. Not a good thing to do!

True, but originally they were glued to the windshield. Today it's mounted using the adhesive strip but looks odd, a white square on the windshield..

They were glued to the windshield, but with a black double sided rubber pad. Nothing has changed and there never was or is anything white. Using superglue or epoxy on the mount can and, often does, cause the windshield to break in rapid temperature changes.

    Hi Jim,

That's interesting, the mirror on my original windshield of the RS had just epoxy on the mounting plate. Impossible to get of now and since I wanted a new windshield, the mounting plate is still on the old one. I guess in it's early life the adhesive pad did not stick too good and the owner glued it directly onto the windshield. Indeed in the 72/73 parts manual an adhesive pad is mentioned. See you learn everyday.
But, I think 8 years ago I changed the windshield and mounted the mirror with a white Porsche OEM adhesive pad, and that looks just odd from the outside. Black or grey would be better and may be Porsche has changed that.

    Regards, Cees

btw found the mirror on Don's site. Good luck and hope anyone is able to buy from him....http://www.porsport.com/index.php?vi...lery&Itemid=57
