Looking for info on 69 Sportomatic electrical wiring.

    I'm working on a new wire harness for a 1969 911 Sportomatic.
Besides the normal harness its not fully clear which additional wiring is required for the Sportomatic gearbox.
Does anyone have more information on that ? ( maybe picture's / diagram's etc)
Would like to know wire colors, thickness, locations.
Any help is very much appreciated !

    Best regards from Holland.

    Gerard.

Sadly, the sportomatic.org site is gone. A shame since all the sporto specific material isn't available online anywhere else.

This has what you need, but at 25MB takes a bit to download.

Really? That's unfortunate. I think Phil (the most recent site host, after Patrick Wheeler) is still active on the bird; I'll have to try to contact him.

I wish I had known. I just rewired my 69 former sporto and threw out the harnesses

    1. From memory there is the neutral cut-off switch which ensures you can't start the car unless the gearbox is in neutral - the wires run from the four terminal switch on the gearbox to the starter solenoid and are encorporated in the starter harness. I think they are a combination of reds and yellows (as per the other starter wires running from the ignition).

    2. The wire running from the micro switch on the shifter back to the solenoid that activates the vacuum valve on the engine (brown and white). It runs through the tunnel. Confusingly there is another brown and white wire in the same area running forward, that is for the handbrake dash light. From memory, the solenoid wire is part of the left most round harness terminal located in the engine bay (the round ones up on the cross-member in front of the engine).

The old 911 Haynes Manual has a short section on the sportomatic and may have a suitable wiring diagram to help.

    Hope that's some help.

I have one of those handy. I could possibly scan and e-mail to the OP if s/he desires.

All the sportomatic wiring diagrams are in the supplements of the first version shop manual. If you can't locate them locally I can copy and send them to you.

    Wiring Harness

I have the engine wiring harness for a Sporto. Do not know what year. It has the trans, starter, alternater, sporto valve wiring, with the plastic T connector and the multiple plug wires. The plastic plug is broken but the wire ends are all there, no wires are cut. $200.00 OBO, plus ship and Pay Pal. Can send pictures if interested?
