    Air Conditioner up-date for a '73 911

Is there a firm that is offering a modern A/C system to replace the original systems...?

On SWB cars we start with a Behr evaporator assm, comp bracket, diffuser (under dash unit), rotary comp, Pro-Cooler, and 993 condenser/fan assm. Makes for an awesome system that allows the engine to run cooler because we jettison the engine lid condenser. The only significant violation of the body are the two holes for the evap box (inlet/outlet.)

’69-’73 cars are more of a challenge because of the left side battery box but a system can still be done with some creativity. Plan on spending $5k+ and be prepared for higher oil temps depending on your region.

Frank, you use a 993 condenser/ fan, does that go in front of the driverside fender? I'd like to put one in my 71, the passenger battery box has been removed and a Carrera cooler mounted.

The left front is where we mount the 993 cond/fan assm so you're looking at another boxectomy.
It's a fairly cumbersome unit but the fan kicks butt which is THE KEY. Might even propel the car and qualify it as a hybrid.

The original SWB systems used a left front condenser as well but they're not the most efficient things in the world.

Do you have any pictures of the install? Particularly how low does the condenser protrude to the ground.

Griffiths is probably the top quality of all, although I really think Franks 993 front condensor is a much better solution than Griffith's rear fender condenser. That's if you don't mind losing your battery box.
