    68L Interior Question

    Hello All

I recently bought a 68L which I will be turning into a racecar.

I am fascinated by the ashtray and it's "Smokers have bad breath" sign Was this a factory thing? And can anyone tell me if the faux wood dash trim is original?

    Cheers
    John

I worked at a Porsche shop in the early 70's, and I never saw the wood trim on a car past '66. Maybe it was available in your market, but I'm thinking it was added. Looks nicely done.

The wood looks to dark and I don't think the wood dashes had aluminum trim. I believe what you have is a 68 dash that someone removed the material insert from the aluminum backer and carefully crafted in wood.

    Thanks Guys

    It's a US market car...

The 'wood' is some kind of laminate, like off a bench-top... And I'm guessing Porsche wouldn't have insulted it's customers about their breath?

Considering Ferry Porsche had well used ashtrays in all his cars, the factory would be the last suspect. Not to mention, they'd likely engrave it in German!
