    Film and picture scanners

I know that there are experts in many fields on this forum that share the car, and Porsche in particular, passion.

I am looking to buy a good photo and 35mm slide scanner to move some of my old pictures into digital format.

What do some of you that know this technology suggest as a good quallity scanner with a reasonable cost?

    Thanks for your suggestions...

I believe the CANON Canoscan 9000F to be the best unit on the market today for what you describe. Bought mine from the local photo pro-shop for around $ 230.00 and is has never disappointed me in the slightest.

The secret to getting the most out of it however is to combine the above scanner with an aftermarket supplemental software package specifically made to work with it, as it makes scanning and tweaking the photos and slides so much easier with superior results than the Canon software.

I bundled my scanner with Silverfast Launcher software and am very happy with it. Silverfast offer several levels of performance and features so choose whatever version you feel you need.

    Good Luck,

The Canon is fantastic. I bought the 9000F MK II.
