Thread: 65 / 66 MY dash question

    65 / 66 MY dash question

Did all 65/66 911's come with a radio hole in the wooden dash, or was the dash delivered 'uncut' if a radio was not ordered?

If they all had the holes, does that mean you got a radio delete plate if you didn't order a radio?

Or did the delivering dealer cut the holes for the radio?

Trying to work out how my new-to-me 65 was delivered.
    Cheers, Ryan

Yep, my guess would be all wood had the hole pre-cut with the delete plate or a radio.

Ok, I have two more 66 MY questions whilst I have a few experts on the hook:

    1. Should the shroud/collar part behind the rear seat pads be carpet or vinyl? I've seen both??

    2. Should the rear seat backs have a strap with a press stud fastener to hold them in the upright position?

    Yup x 2.

    1. vinyl; there's a U shaped section from the bum-cushion (tech-term) about a palm's width (2nd tech-term) in height
    2. yes; black leather flap on outer edge of seat back with press stud on the rear parcel shelf lip.

Don't have a pic of mine so here's an image from a UK RHD car c.200 from your VIN.

Both correct for your car, Ryanski.

Cheers again. Car is currently moving between various specialists to right a few wrongs, plus I have gathered from far and wide a small pile of correct parts to go in. Expect a set of photos shortly.

Another question - the under bonnet carpet needs to be replaced. The centre section is attached with two leather straps. What about the two side section - are they glued in?
