who knows why ? door panel question

i wonder why the number and position of screws used for mounting the door Panels varied on swb cars.

and when did the change happen?

or was it just up to "the door panel guy "in the factory where to place the screws.

i find it rather ugly that sometimes the screws go just right through the door pockets.

how is it on your cars?

Add to that, that under the panels, my '67 912 has holes with plastic cups in them, clearly for snap in clips - but no such snap in clips on my original door panels. So that must mean some other cars at the same time used those clips? Why even bother filling the holes with plastic cups?
