    1973 Silver S Targa

Hello, I recently bought a 911S Targa deliverd to the US in 1973 that is now back home to Germany where it was built 40 years ago! I am a new member to the registry and are currently trying to track down the history of the car.

The car came with an US title from 2004 saying that it lived in Loveland, Colorado the last 10 years, but no other history whatsoever. Also I was not able to contact the previous owner mentioned in the title.

The VIN is 9113310580 which indicates that it must have been number 580 of only 925 Targa S built in 1973.

The dealer who imported the car back to Germany said it was driven by an ex-airforce fighter pilot in Colorado since 2004 who just used in to go back on forth to the base before piloting something even faster then the S. Its current color is silver, but it was repainted along its way from its original color of sepia. It also has a changed wing (rear, right) which might result from a minor accident in the past. The A/C was orginally fitted, but removed and what strikes me odd is the fact that the car does not come with an oil cooler, which did not happen here in Germany, but was apparently something not always fitted to S going to the US.

The 65-year old ex-Prosche mechanic over here in Germany, who is helping me doing the car up confirmed that chassis number, transmission and engine are the correct stuff, but Porsche was not able to issue a "birth certificate" as they claim they lost the specific production card for the car in their archive due to water damage. My mechanic friend was pretty impressed by the cars performance, wondering whether the engine was tuned to RS specs.

I would love to find out more about the car and appreciate any help/information about its history, perhaps some of you have come accross the car in the past.

    Greetings from Germany
